Lake Markakol, located in the remote Altai Mountains of East Kazakhstan, is often called the “Pearl of Altai.” At an altitude of 1,447 meters, this vast mountain lake stretches for over 38 km and is surrounded by pristine taiga forests. Its waters are incredibly clear, reflecting the peaks and skies like a mirror. The area is part of the Markakol Nature Reserve, home to rare wildlife, including the snow leopard, lynx, and black stork.
