Burkhan Bulak Waterfall, cascading from a height of 168 meters, is the tallest waterfall in Kazakhstan and one of its most spectacular natural wonders. Nestled deep in the Jungar Alatau mountain range, this majestic site remains a hidden treasure, accessible only during the summer months when the snow melts and the streams are at their strongest. The name “Burkhan Bulak” translates as “God’s Stream,” and the scenery fully lives up to its sacred name: rugged cliffs, alpine meadows, and the roar of endless water plunging into a rocky gorge.
Height: 168 meters (3 tiers).
Located in the Jungar Alatau National Park.
Best season: July–August (peak water flow).
Surrounded by alpine meadows and wild forests.
Access is seasonal: the waterfall is best visited in summer when snowmelt feeds the cascades.
Wear trekking shoes: the trail involves rocky sections and steep climbs.
Bring a camera with a good zoom lens for panoramic views.
